Conditions for the au pair
The au pair must be at least 17 years of age and a maximum of 29 years old at the time of application. Normally, the au pair must not be married, have been married in the past, currently be living with a partner, or have any children.

The au pair must also have an education equivalent to at least 9 years at school and be able to speak and understand Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, English or German at a reasonable level.

In general, the au pair should not have already had two or more au pair placements in other West European countries or should not have previously held a Danish residence permit.

Au pairs may not be of the same nationality as, or related to, one or more members of the host family.
