Au Pair Support

Who can become a host family?

Conditions for the host family
The host family must be comprised of at least one parent who have at least one child under the age of 18 living at home. In families where the parents do not live together and the au pair must live intermittently at both parent’s homes, both parents must meet the requirements and sign an au pair contract.

At least one parent must have Danish citizenship, unless the host family are EU citizens residing in Denmark or are foreign nationals with long term residency in Denmark.

Lastly, the host family must not be receiving public assistance as their primary means of support under the terms of the Active Social Policy Act and must not have been serving a penalty period on account of previous abuse of the au pair scheme.

Regarding the housing conditions of the host family, the au pair is entitled to her own room. In addition, the host family must have a common living room, as well as one room for every two people registered at the residence.
