Mediation
Is it difficult for the family to communicate with the au pair? Do you experience misunderstandings and minor conflicts? Are you normally happy with each other and the relationship? Then there is a good chance that Au pair Support can help you. We offer mediation to host families and au pairs who are interested in continuing the relationship but need some assistance in order to have a better dialogue. If you seek help in good time, a conflict which might result in you ending the relationship may be avoided.
Voluntary network
If your au pair would like to meet other people outside the host family, the Danish Refugee Council's voluntary network is a possibility. The network, which has branches in several places around the country, offers activities such as coaching, language training, excursions, sewing circles and social and cultural events. Contact Au pair Support to find out more about the network in your area.
Individual advice
If you are not sure about the host family's rights and obligations in relation to au pairs, you can contact Au pair Support for advice and guidance. It may concern questions such as types of chores, working hours, visitors spending the night or what a host family can do if the relationship to the au pair does not work out the way it should.
Language training
If your au pair would like to learn Danish, he or she can get lessons at Lærdansk, the Danish Refugee Council's language centres. Your au pair is entitled to follow two modules of Danish instruction. You can find more information about these language centres, education and training on the Lærdansk website.
Voluntary advisory services
If your au pair would like to know more about the rules for study and work permits or family reunifications, he or she can contact one of the Danish Refugee Council's voluntary advisory services or Au pair Support. The addresses and opening hours of the voluntary advisory services can be found on the Frivillignet website.
